BENCHWORK IS COMPLETE - Here's a picture of what the layout looked like after the benchwork was done. You can see a module in the far back right corner that was salvaged from my previous layout.
BACKGROUND IS COMPLETE - Here's the layout after the background was refinished. Fluffy clouds on a typical summer day. Looking much better and cohesive now.
SUBROADBED IS DOWN - The plywood subroadbed is down now. (Notice that the benchwork has changed somewhat - the peninsula that was on front left is now in the center back, and the peninsula that was on the right back is now on the left. And yes, there is a method to this madness.)
Yippee! I've finally got all of the risers in place and have one track of the double-track mainline completed. I'm running trains again! Now, to start on the second mainline. (Notice, too, that the final benchwork changed (again) from what the previous picture showed).
The second mainline is now complete, and the fascia is installed and painted. Also, a little more scenery work done in the background.   Image
01/28/03 - Trackwork has now been laid through the city area, as well as the yard and engine service facilty towards the back. The peninsula on the left was removed and remade into a peninsula from the back wall. The engine service facility is now back there.   Image
04/12/03 - Updated view of the layout, showing the 3' extention recently added to the front of the left side. This makes the industrial area of ALCOA a larger area to work with now. This thing just keeps growing and growing.   Image
05/11/03 - Update showing the rebuilt town area on the right. The previous area did not have access to the rear of the layout near the backdrop, making work there difficult. The rebuilt area now has an access aisle making work much easier in this area.   Image

Here's an overhead view showing the new access aisle.   Image
